The following information is acquired by personal observations, or from the trolls' own explanations.

General
- Originally from a planet called Alternia
- There's roughly 791 days in one solar sweep(a year)
- Leader: Karkat
- Barely extinct; just 12 remaining
- Claims that trolls created the human universe through playing some sort of game called Sgrub
- Low tolerance for sunlight
- A troll's age by human standards can be deducted by the formula below:

13/6 = y/x. y is troll age, and x is the amount of sweeps.
Solar sweeps > Earth age conversion: y x 13 = 6x
Earth age > Solar sweeps conversion: y x 6 = 13x

Landtrolls



Seatrolls
- Has gills, and thus has the ability to breath underwater
- Resistant or immune to cold


Kanaya
- High tolerance for sunlight
- Weapon: a lipstick that can turn into a chainsaw

Language
- The Alternian word for friend is apparently the same as the one for enemy
